Crivella says that evangelicals are not homophobic” and that they “just” think gay people are sinners

After stating that "homosexuality (sic) is a sin", the candidate for the Rio de Janeiro government, Marcelo Crivella he denied being homophobic during the hearing promoted by SBT this Thursday (7).

He, who is an evangelical, says that "there are no people less homophobic than evangelicals" and stated that the only issue he does not support is wanting the church to avoid saying that homosexuality is a sin.

"There are no people less homophobic than evangelicals. Because I am evangelical, they think I am homophobic. What evangelicals want is the right to express themselves and say that homosexuality (sic) is a sin, as the Bible says", he declared the bishop of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God.

When asked whether he would not be encouraging homophobia, Crivella retreats: "Sin is something for each person, for each person's beliefs. I am a sinner. We are all sins." He also said that there are homosexuals in his family, at work and in his party.

"They all work with me and live together", he points out, who said he has never participated in an exorcism session.

GREEK LUNCH
Last Friday (1st), Crivella invited Rio's LGBT community to lunch in the center of Rio. But he didn't want to make peace with the group. The bishop reaffirmed his opinion and even refused to sign a commitment offered by the community

At lunch, there were ten members of Crivella's campaign, four gay activists from PRB and six members of Grupo Iguais de Cabo Frio.
