Daniel Radcliffe explains why he thinks gay footballer Michael Sam is “cool”

Daniel Radcliffe again made gay-friendly statements. This time he praised the American football player Michael Sam, the first openly gay athlete to be in the official league for the St. Louis Rams.

According to the actor, it's "cool" to know that Sam made room for other homosexual athletes to play without prejudice. And what's more: he has a non-victimistic speech.

"Frankly, I think he's amazing. At no point in his interviews do you see him portraying himself as a victim or as deserving of extra sympathy. He's brilliant at tuning out everything that everyone does. I just hope we see him breaking through brilliantly this year", he told Out.

When commenting on the controversy surrounding the kiss Sam gave his boyfriend on television after finding out he was in the official league, Radcliffe defended himself again. "The favorite comments I saw on the internet were: 'I don't mind him being gay, but I don't want to see him kiss your boyfriend'. Well, then you kind of care, yes."

+ Michael Sam said he came out of the closet to not hide his boyfriend

He continues, "Also, I assume Sam told the world this so that when he was called up, he could do it without having to think or hide his boyfriend. And I think that's a fantastic thing. I hope Michael Sam opens doors for so that others can come with him."
