After JK Rowling, author of the books Harry Potter, being criticized for writing transphobic comments on Twitter last weekend - and becoming one of the most talked about topics on the social network since then -, the actor Daniel Radcliffe, known for playing the title character in adaptations of Harry Potter for the cinema, countered the writer's speech.

“Transgender women are women,” he wrote in statement on the website of the NGO The Trevor Project, which works to prevent suicide among LGBT youth.

“Any statement that opposes this erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and goes against any advice from professionals at health associations who have more knowledge on the subject than me or Jo,” added the 30-year-old English actor.
