According to research, Muslims are more accepting of homosexuality than evangelicals

Although in recent months horrific news of homosexuals being thrown from the top of buildings by the Islamic State has appeared on the internet, a survey carried out by the “Pew Research Center” showed that practitioners of the Muslim religion who live in the West are more accepting of the community formed by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people than evangelicals. The result published on the website showed that, in 2017, 52% of Muslims living in the United States believe that “homosexuality should be accepted by society”. Previously, when the last data was collected in 2011, this percentage was 29%, compared to 27% in 2007. In other words, there has been considerable evolution in recent years. Regarding evangelicals, 34% believe that LGBT people should be accepted by society. In 2011, 29% of these religious people believed in this premise; in 2006 they were 23%. Among the religions and/or religious people who most accept the LGBT community, Protestants lead with 76%, followed by Catholics, who correspond to 66%.
