Deputy Cida Diogo does not comment on Clodovil’s death

Sought by the report of the The Cape this afternoon, federal deputy Cida Diogo (PT-RJ) refused to comment on the death of deputy Clodovil Hernandes (PR-SP), who died as a result of brain death yesterday afternoon. Through her press office, the parliamentarian said "there is nothing positive to comment on the matter."

For those who don't remember, in May 2007 Clodovil and Cida Diogo were the protagonists of the debate that became most famous that year. At one point the deputy said that she is "so ugly that she's not even worth it". When asked about the verbal aggression against his colleague, Clodovil defended himself and said it was not his fault "if she was born ugly".

At the time, the deputy was outraged by the offense. At the time, she said that the problem was not being called ugly, but rather the verbal aggression she suffered. Because of this, she opened a case against the deceased deputy. Apparently the case will be archived. In June last year, the deputy was well received by the gay community when she was present at the 1st National LGBT Conference. Toni Reis, president of ABGLT, even called her beautiful.

On the G1 portal, Cida said yesterday that "we are really sensitive about the death of anyone, even more so in the situation that it was, with a stroke inside an apartment. It's a very sad thing. One thing was our disagreements, our different positions. At this moment, that issue has passed, it is over. This moment is one of feeling for a person who lost his life.”

Cida Diogo is considered an ally of the LGBT movement. She was president of the Parliamentary Front for Free Sexual Expression and is one of the supporters of the approval of PLC 122/06 – the bill that criminalizes homophobia in the country – currently being processed in the Federal Senate.
