Red December – SP will have a joint effort for rapid HIV testing this Thursday

There will be 700 tests to diagnose the virus on World AIDS Day

+WHO says that 40% of people with HIV do not know they have the virus

On World AIDS Day, celebrated this Thursday (December 1st), the Department of Health will carry out a rapid HIV testing effort at Pátio do Colegio, located in the center of the capital of São Paulo. The event is part of the "Fique Sabendo" campaign, which encourages early diagnosis of the AIDS virus.

From 10 am, 700 tests will be offered to detect the virus. A team made up of 70 professionals from the State STD/Aids-SP Program will work, in two shifts, to serve the public.
The rapid test is painless, performed by collecting oral fluid. The result is available in approximately 30 minutes and the patient's privacy and confidentiality are guaranteed. In case of a positive diagnosis, patients will be directed to reference services in the public health network. The collective effort will continue until 17pm.

The 2016 "Fique Sabendo" campaign began in the State of São Paulo on November 25th, mobilizing 3,9 health units in 590 municipalities, offering around 250 tests.
