Gay Pride Day will have a demonstration against violence in the Gardens

Next Thursday, 28th — International GLBT Pride Day -, the São Paulo GLBT Pride Parade Association (APOGLBT) promotes a walk against violence in the strongholds frequented by the segment in places known as Quadrangle dos Jardins and Triangulo das Bermudas , close to Avenida Paulista.

The gathering takes place from 19pm on the corner of Rua da Consolação and Alameda Itu, close to Bar du Bocage, and should continue along Rua Augusta, where it ends, around 00pm.

The demonstration ends at the corner of Augusta and Rua Fernando de Albuquerque, in front of Pizzeria Vitrine, where last week a 17-year-old lesbian girl was attacked.

The act is motivated by the series of beatings, murders and kidnappings by gangs, often identified as neo-Nazis, that have been taking place in the area of ​​bars and restaurants in that region.

The activity is part of the APOGLBT campaign "Don't be silent!" which aims to alert homosexuals to the need for police records of homophobic violence.

APOGLBT's intention in calling for the demonstration is to draw attention to the need and urgency of the Approval of PLC 122/2006, which criminalizes homophobia and is being processed in the Senate; training of police officers to assist victims of violence, especially when it comes to homophobic or intolerance crimes; as well as the increase in preventive policing in the region and the rapid investigation and punishment of those responsible for the crimes that occurred.

The demonstration will have the support of the Coordinator of Sexual Diversity Affairs of the City of São Paulo (CADS), the Reference Center for Human Rights and Combating Homophobia and the team from the Racial Crimes and Intolerance Offenses Office (Decradi).
