After directing episodes of series created by Ryan Murphyas pose (FX/Hulu) and The Politician (Netflix), the director and black transgender woman Janet Mock will make his film debut in a Murphy project for Netflix. The information is from Deadline.

Entitled Janet, the feature film is based on a famous true story from the world of journalism. The film will tell how reporter Janet Cooke, from The Washington Post, forged an article that earned him journalism's top prize, the Pulitzer, in the early 1980s.

In addition to directing, Mock – herself a former journalist – will write the script with an editor from The Washington Post, Ned Martel, and will also serve as a producer alongside Murphy.

“I'm thrilled to be joining Netflix on my first feature film, [which will] center on a young black woman in The Washington Post and her ambitious and complicated journey to be on the front page – no matter what,” Mock said in a statement.

Janet will be produced under Murphy's exclusive deal with Netflix.
