DIV.A: LGBT animation film festival takes place in May in Rio; check schedule

The fourth edition of Diversidade em Animação (DIV.A) will be held between May 4th and 13th, in Rio de Janeiro.

The festival focuses on screening and rewarding the best animated films from the LGBT universe from around the world.

In the 2012 edition, 56 Brazilian and international films participate in DIV.A. The International Short Film Competition features 22 animations that make their debut in Brazil and will be analyzed by the popular, technical and festival juries.

The winners will be announced on May 13th. The award-winning films from 2010 and 2011 will also be re-presented.

Among the special shows are Mais Inflamado, with videos of sexual and abused content, and Sem Saída, which features 4 short films showing the stories of people who live in Jamaica, Iran, Iraq and Zimbabwe, countries with extreme intolerance towards homosexuals.

On May 05th, the debate "Future of LGBT Animation Cinema in Brazil" will take place, with national and international directors. And to top it off, on the 10th, there's a party at The Week, with projections of flaming animations synchronized with the hits from the dance floor.
