Publisher launches contest for homoaffective short stories and poetry; find out how to participate

From March 1st, the publisher Metanoia launched the 1st Homoaffective Short Stories and Poetry Competition in Rio de Janeiro. The idea is to consider the LGBT population within the scope of literature and use it to "empower" the group in society.

The competition is sponsored by the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Department of Culture, through the Carioca Culture Promotion Program.

The works entered must talk about LGBT people (Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transvestites or Transsexuals), their joys, pains, affections, dreams, daily lives of people who are dehumanized by the actions of society.

+ Children's book "A Vila das Cores" talks about family and diversity

"We understand that literature becomes a mirror for those who read it and, with this, can help to deconstruct normalizing ideologies, stereotypes and preconceptions that lead to the social exclusion of human beings, robbing them of their dignity and citizenship", says the text of the event.
