A group of protesters carried banners against the politician. Cunha was called "corrupt, sexist, racist and homophobic" by the 20 protesters, who are members of the Juntos! movement.

The politician has previously declared that the law that criminalizes homophobia and transphobia should not occur during his mandate, in addition to supporting the Family Statute project, which aims to consider only heterosexual couples as family and prevent LGBT people from adopting.

The demonstration began as soon as the session began, especially when Cunha was introduced. Boos from the group competed with the applause of some deputies who came from Brasília to accompany the president of the Chamber. Some LGBT people kissed and others raised banners.
