On the 11th, it was 15 years since the iconic actor Jorge Lafond, best known for his character Vera summer, from the humorous "The square is ours", from SBT, died.
Given his birth name as Jorge Luiz de Souza Lima, born on March 29, 1952, the artist adopted his surname in honor of the actress Monique Lafond.
The actor defined himself as "a poor, homosexual black man who came from the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro, Vila da Penha, and who today, thank God, has achieved this stardom which, for me, is a cool thing. I managed to achieve all the goals I had in life".
Regarding the emergence of the character Vera Verão, Lafond explained that "Vera Verão appeared in my first invitation from Wilton Franco in Trapalhões, in a picture that was Mussum's bingo and Michael Jackson's manager. I played a character who left Morro da Mangueira and went to the United States, super macho. When he came back, he was completely disheveled. When I opened the apartment door, Mussum said: 'Zeca! Zecão! What happened to you, Zeção?! Then I screamed: "Zecão, no, my love! My name is now Vera Verão!".
In tribute, the newspaper O Estado de S.Paulo published a special report about Lafond's career and you can read it in full by clicking here.
