Elections are here

Year in and year out and we gays don't have rights, and here in São Paulo the tendency is to get worse. The Federal Government is simply unaware of our existence. Collusion with evangelicals is wide open.

The most interesting thing is that approximately five years ago Rio de Janeiro was a land dominated by evangelicals (Garotinho and others) and was in its worst phases. The Cabral Government ended the occupation of several hills and greatly improved the lives of Rio's friends, and because of it, stable unions became possible for same-sex couples throughout Brazil.

The other day I read a very sensible interview with Eduardo Paes, a candidate for re-election. I was impressed and envious, among many things he said that he doesn't have a political party, he said that his party is Rio de Janeiro. He is from the PMDB, but says he disbelieves in this party scheme.

In São Paulo the candidates are very bad. The Russoman who was an employee of Record/Universal until three months ago could win, it will be very sad. Will we enter the Garotinho era like what happened in Rio de Janeiro? Can he be worse than Kassab? Hard task.

Between Serra and Haddad it is also a difficult dispute. Serra has already resigned from his position, and not even the psdbistas themselves like him. Haddad has been very affected by the PT's monthly allowance. Soninha has no chance of winning.

In terms of councilors, there is a lack of a politician like Jean Wyllys here in SP. I'm going to vote for Silvetty. I know she's not politicized like Jean, but what's best about her is her ability to win. She has worked in the gay community for two decades, and I know we can trust her.

Ah, the subject now is Almada's support for Russomano. I imagine that approaching the likely future mayor is not something easy to refuse for those who have commercial properties here in the city. The Kassab administration carried out great terrorism in the lives of nightclub owners here, remember? He says he didn't provide support, but just inviting people from his mailing list and opening the doors is already support. Maybe his naivety.

Now they're going to post a flood of comments from fans of Serra, Haddad, PT, Russomano... I'll only approve what I think is relevant. Offenses and boring jokes will be deleted. Do not waste time.
