For some time now, producers of Once upon a time had already promised a gay couple in history.

It was in the sixth season that this new arc appeared. Ruby (Meghan Ory) who is known in fantastic history for representing Little Red Riding Hood, finds Dorothy (Teri Reeves), in the lands of Oz, and there the two fall in love.

Although in the third season Mulan revealed his love for princess Aurora, they never ended up together. In the case of the new couple, the characters gave true love's kiss to free Dorothy from a sleeping curse.

“True love’s kiss has been part of this series since the beginning. This last episode just shows that both in fairy tales and in real life, love is love” said the co-creator Adam Horowitz to the Hollywood Reporter website.

Eddy Kitsis, creator, added that like other couples, it's just another love story. “We didn't want to tell it in a different way than we did with Snow and Charming or Regina and Robin. We just wanted to tell another love story.”
