Poland has zones considered “free” of LGBT people. How well explains the DW, these are areas in which “regional or local governments have declared themselves 'LGBT ideology-free zones'” and whose resolutions, although “not legally binding”, “urge local authorities to 'refrain from any action that encourages tolerance of LGBTI people and not to provide financial assistance to NGOs working for equal rights'”.

And even in the context of the notoriously prejudiced Trump administration, the US Embassy in Warsaw spoke out in favor of the rights of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender people on the last World and National Day to combat LGBTphobia (Sunday, the 17th).

They published a video on Twitter stating that, in their diplomatic missions, they support “dignity” and “equality” for all, “regardless of gender, sexual orientation, expression or sexual characteristics”. Polish diplomats in New Zealand and Canada also participated in the video.

The UK ambassador to Warsaw and his diplomats decided to speak out and posted a video in which they wear personalized masks with the colors of the LGBT flag to protect themselves from the new coronavirus.
