Emicida asks questions about gays in the rap scene

Rapper Emicida spoke about the lack of gay artists in the national rap scene, during an interview with the French program RFI.

“When we invite Pabllo and Majur to the epicenter of things, it’s to put rap music in front of the mirror and ask ourselves: why don’t we have more openly gay artists? What kind of atmosphere have we built that makes these people feel attacked in our presence?”, asked the rapper.

“When the country has 13 million unemployed people and the president's concern is to prevent transgender people from having access to a specific entrance exam for them, I think we need to regret, not fight back. We are not going backwards. We are heading towards collective suicide, not only for the non-existent political project of this current government, but for the nation as a whole”.
