One of the main sports channels in the country, Esporte Interativo caused controversy on social media when it used the image of a deer to announce a match to be played between São Paulo and Bragantino for the São Paulo championship. The game was played last Wednesday, 07th. For those who don't know, rival fans pejoratively nicknamed the Tricolores (São Paulo Futebol Clube fans) “bambi”. Unsatisfied, São Paulo residents invaded the broadcaster's Twitter page, criticizing the “lack of professionalism” of those responsible. The rivals, however, celebrated and took the opportunity to gloat. After the negative repercussion, Esporte Interativo issued a statement apologizing and stated that it had not done anything “harmful”. “ Esporte Interativo knows that sport is about interacting. Make friends. In football, banter is as essential as respect, education and tolerance are in everyone's lives. We were bad. But we didn't do anything wrong. It happened by chance and could have been in any match for any club. All the excuses in the world for the institution and its fans. It wasn't our intention. It will never be”, says the note.
