After a vote with 15 thousand respondents and a result of 56% in favor of the proposal, Scotland will be the first country to adopt the “third gender” option in its official documents.
According to a government spokesperson, the majority of the population supported people recognizing themselves as other genders and stated to the Scotsman newspaper: “We will consider the analysis and opinion of those consulted to advance our laws and recognition of all citizens.”
