From 2021, Scotland will be the first country in the world to have content on LGBT topics in the curriculum of all public schools.
Same-sex marriage, same-sex couples who have children, LGBTphobia and the HIV/AIDS epidemic will be some of the topics covered.
“Scotland is already considered one of the most progressive countries in Europe in terms of LGBTI equality,” said John Swinney, deputy first minister and education secretary, in a statement.
“I am happy to announce that we will be the first country in the world to have LGBTI-inclusive education in our curriculum.”
