The federal judge in the state of Kentucky ordered the arrest of the clerk Kim Daves because she disobeyed his court order, after being sued by four homosexual couples.
She, who is an apostolic Christian, refused to issue marriage certificates because it would violate her religion and even said that "she was ready to go to jail". And, as equal marriage already became law in June, when the US Supreme Court legalized it across the country, she ended up being arrested.

The judge's decision was harsher than that suggested by the couples' defense. But, he said, the rationale is that letting her challenge a court's authority could create a dangerous precedent and ripple effect. Furthermore, he said that fines would not be enough to force her to comply with the court's order.
