“I’ll be dead and there will still be people saying I’m gay,” says George Clooney

Actor George Clooney, who exchanged a peck with the comedian and Billy Crystal during the Oscar ceremony last Sunday (26), told the “Advocate” website that he doesn't care at all about rumors about his sexuality.

“My private life is private, and I'm very happy in mine. Who does it hurt if someone thinks I'm gay? I will be dead a long time ago and there will still be people saying I was gay,” said the actor.

Clooney went further and stated that responding to rumors that he was gay, as if that were a bad thing, would be very rude to his gay friends and fans.

Then, the actor even defended same-sex marriage. “I think that every time we are against equality we will be on the wrong side of history”, he declared.

Regarding playing a gay character, the actor does not rule out the possibility. “If the script is about being gay or just has a gay character, and it’s a great script, I’ll do it.”

Meanwhile, Clooney prepares for the reading of the play “8”  , by Dustin Lance Black – screenwriter of the film “Milk – The Voice of Equality”, which defends gay marriage in California.
