USA: Candidate Mitt Romney's statement against homosexual couples is released on YouTube

After classifying Obama's supporters and voters as "people who live off government handouts and don't take care of their lives", United States presidential candidate Mitt Romney once again had his controversial statements highlighted, this time about the gay community.

A declared opponent of LGBT public policies, Romney had his speech against the adoption of children by homosexual couples, made in 2005, published on YouTube.

The person who made the video available was journalist Murray Was, from "The Boston Globe", who had written a report accusing the candidate of making it difficult to issue birth certificates in Massachusetts to homosexual couples while he was governor of the state.

"Today, same-sex people are marrying, in accordance with the law, in Massachusetts. Some gays are even having children. We were asked to remove the words 'mother' and 'father' to include 'parent A.' and 'parent B'. This is not right on paper. This is not right at all. Every child has the right to have a 'mother' and a 'father'", declared the candidate during a meeting with voters in South Carolina, in 2005.

The journalist, who publicized Romney's speech, claims to have had access to documents in which the then governor refused to authorize the inclusion of the names of two fathers or two mothers in the registration of some children.

Still according to the article, the change in birth certificates in Massachusetts only happened during the change of government, when Democrat Deval Patrick took Romney's place.
