Elizabeth Warren, pre-candidate of the Democratic Party for the 2020 presidential elections in the United States, made an appeal against the violence suffered by transgender people.

When concluding her speech in a debate with her Democratic competitors last Tuesday (14), in the city of Des Moines, Iowa, the Massachusetts senator expressed concern about “how trans women, particularly black women, are at risk”.

This is not the first time that Warren has been attentive to the demands of the trans population. According to the magazine The Advocate, in September 2019, the pre-candidate went to a forum sponsored by the publication, in which she read the name of each victim of death due to transphobia recorded up to that point in the year.

In a debate held in December, the Democrat promised that, if elected, she would do the same thing every year in the White House rose garden.

Pete Buttigieg, the only openly gay Democratic Party candidate, did not speak out on the issue at the debate in Des Moines.
