Former gay sergeant files lawsuit against Rede TV! and Luciana Gimenez

Former sergeant Fernando Alcântara and his companion Laci Marinho de Araújo opened a lawsuit against Rede TV! and presenter Luciana Gimenez. The reason would be a painting shown on "SuperPop", in June 2008, in which two caricatures of Fernando and Laci were interviewed by an impersonator of journalist Marília Gabriela.

The lawsuit filed by the couple asks for compensation of R$500 and the removal of the videos with the painting available on YouTube. "We decided to file the lawsuit more for ethical reasons. We know that in Brazil they don't usually pay large amounts for moral damages," Fernando said on the website of Veja magazine.

Fernando and Laci de Araújo became well-known after appearing on the cover of "Época" magazine about gays in the Army. Soon after, the couple was invited by the production of "SuperPop" and they admitted their homosexuality live during the program. At the end of the attraction, Laci ended up being arrested on charges of desertion from the Army.
