The program Fantastic (Globo) scored a great goal last Sunday night (1) by showing a long report on the reality of transgender women who live in deprivation of liberty.

The person who presented it was the doctor and communicator Drauzio Varella, a longtime ally of the LGBT community and our quest for rights.

The report gives space for trans women to talk about what life is like at the Pinheiros Provisional Detention Center, in the west zone of São Paulo, and at the I José Parada Neto Penitentiary, in Guarulhos, in Greater São Paulo.

The characters report what happened to them before going to prison; the prostitution that they need to resort to in prison to have access to, for example, hygiene items; HIV/AIDS treatment within the center; loneliness; jobs also inside the prison; and the exclusive and humanized space in which they live, among other topics.
