Lisbon Gay and Lesbian Film Festival will screen more than 100 short and feature films

Lisbon hosts, between September 15th and 24th, the 10th Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (FCGLL), which this year will show 114 films from different countries, such as Bosnia, Spain and the USA. The works, divided into 30 feature films, 50 short films and 34 documentaries, will participate in a competitive exhibition with prizes of up to 1.000 euros for the winners. The Portuguese event also features a historical retrospective of gay cinema and debates and forums on homophobia. According to the event director, the festival is important as a channel for gay cinema to enter Portugal. “The tenth anniversary of the Lisbon Gay and Lesbian Film Festival marks our presence as a Festival that is still today the only vehicle for truly alternative cinema to enter our country, and which continues, as has been the case in its previous editions, to spark a set of debates that make up Portuguese current affairs. This year, to mark 10 years of work, we will focus on the themes of homophobia and transphobia”. The jury will be made up of film professionals, writers and, as expected, the public will have a special participation in choosing the best films at the festival.
