Film “Dzi Croquettes” is banned from China Film Festival

The films "Dzi Croquettes", "Linha de Passe", "One Night in 67" and "The Red Light Bandit" were banned by the Chinese government from being shown at a Brazilian cinema festival. China's censors alleged "content not appropriate for local audiences."

The censored works were on the schedule of the 2nd Brazilian Film Festival in China, which will take place in November in Beijing and Shanghai. The event is curated by Anamaria Boschi, 33, from São Paulo, who told the press that she will not appeal the Chinese government's decision. Anamaria claimed to be in "their land" and has to respect their rules.

In addition to the films mentioned, "Cabeça a Prêmio" and "Mangue Negro" were also banned. The curator believes that the scenes of violence may have led to the veto. It is worth remembering that "Linha de Passe" and "Dzi Croquettes" do not contain scenes of violence.
