The film “Magic Mike”, which brought a crowd to cinemas to see the story of hot strippers, will become a musical.
The person who announced the venture was Channing Tatum himself, the protagonist of the film.
“You knew we were going to make a sequel to Magic Mike, but now you can also see the movie version on stage and live,” Channing posted on her Instagram account and on her official website.
The show will be produced by Channing Tatum, along with the film's director Steven Soderbergh and co-producers Gregory Jacobs and Nick Wechsler.
The songs will be written by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, the same person responsible for “Next to Normal”, which in 2009 won the Tony award for best soundtrack, the biggest award in North American theater.
The script for the film, and now the musical, is inspired by the life of Channing himself, who worked as a stripper before becoming an actor.
