France: Bill allowing gay marriage will be sent to the Senate in October

Last Saturday (25), Jean-Marc Ayrault (photo), Prime Minister of France, stated that the government will send a bill to Parliament that legalizes same-sex marriage.

"In October, we will send a project to the National Assembly and the Senate to allow same-sex couples to marry. The project will also allow them to form families and adopt children," Ayrault declared during the French Socialist Party's annual convention.

The new president of France, François Hollande, worked on the issue of the rights of the gay community in his election campaign, marriage between homosexuals is one of the issues to be approved.

At the beginning of July, the prime minister had already declared that French society is changing and, therefore, new lifestyles and attitudes must be changed as well. "The government will respond in the name of equality. In the first half of 2013, the right to marriage and adoption will be open to all couples, without discrimination", declared Ayrault at the time.
