Actor Pedro Alves, who currently plays a gay man in the teen soap opera Malhação, said during an interview with the newspaper Extra that he is bisexual.
Pedro said that playing the character is as if he was able to give voice to several Gugas spread across Brazil, who suffer a lot and are unable to accept their sexuality. “It’s a pleasure, an emotion! Even more so now that he will gradually come out to other people and that the confrontations with his father (played by Roberto Bomtempo) will become increasingly stronger”, said the actor.
He also said that he has no problems talking about his sexuality. “I've dated a girl and I've dated a boy. People want to be happy and they don't care so much about what people say. We’ve made progress in that sense,” he said.
