Gays over 60 tend to lie more about their age on apps, says research

Dating apps have become a great option for those looking for quick sex or even something more lasting. At the same time, these platforms can be a source of prejudice and exclusion, especially towards older people.

A study conducted by the Gay Star News portal revealed that one in four gay and bisexual men tend to lie about their age on apps.

In total, the survey interviewed more than three thousand people, of which 35% were retirees. 25% of those interviewed admitted that they have lied at least once about their age and the number rises to 28% when it comes to those over 60 years old.

Among the reasons that lead people to omit or lie about longevity are the extreme appreciation of youth, the fear of getting old and losing “good looks”.
