Glória Pires will play a lesbian architect in the cinema

Actress Glória Pires will play lesbian architect Lota de Macedo Soares, who designed and built Flamengo Park, in the cinema. The new film, “The Art of Losing”, is by Bruno Barreto and will be internationally co-produced with Goldcrest.

The film tells the love story between Lota and the American poet Elizabeth Bishop, which took place in the 50s and 60s in Brazil. It is thought that as Glória's romantic partner, Bruno Barreto's ex-wife, the American actress Amy Irving, will be cast.

“The Art of Losing” is scheduled to be shot in the second half of 2011, with filming in Rio de Janeiro, Petrópolis, New York and Venice.
