Goiânia will host cultural diversity week in November

Between the 4th and 11th of November, the “X Week of Cultural and Human Diversity” will take place in Goiânia. Organized by the Associação Goiana de Gays, Lesbicas e Transgenderos – AGLT, in partnership with the NGOs Ipê, Eles por Ele and ADGLT and support from the Ministry of Culture, the week aims to give visibility to the diversity of cultural and artistic production of the gay community , lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people in the city, reducing prejudice, discrimination and homophobia. The closing of the event will take place on November 10, 2006, at Rua do Lazer, downtown, from 14 pm to 23 pm, when there will be spaces for: Cultural clothesline, dance show, music, poetry, drag, capoeira parade, school samba, choir performance, theater, mime, juggling and any other cultural intervention that is incorporated into the philosophy of the event. For Silvério Reis, coordinator of the tenth GLBT week, “the event aims to use culture to show that it is possible to build a city where straight, bi and gay people can live harmoniously in peace.” Registration for cultural presentations can be made on the website www.aglt.org.br until November 4, 2006
