Cuban government interrupts gay parade

The Cuban government sent police officers to interrupt the march for LGBTQ+ rights, which was taking place as a protest against the cancellation of the parade against homophobia. At least three activists were arrested.

Around 100 protesters shouted “yes, it’s possible!” and walked along the famous Paseo del Prado avenue, in the historic center of Havana. The walk was only 400 meters, until it was dispersed by the police.

The activists were protesting the cancellation of the “conga”, which has been organized annually for more than 10 years, on the Day against Homophobia, by the National Center for Sexual Education, under the sponsorship of the Cuban Ministry of Health.
