Obama administration launches campaign against homophobic bullying

Barack Obama's government has just launched a campaign with the intention of stopping homophobic bullying in schools in the United States. The idea comes after President Obama became aware of the report regarding young gay men who committed suicide due to the sexual oppression they suffered in high school.

Schools will now have Councils that will work on the issue of non-prejudice due to sexual orientation. The objective is also to take the project to universities.

In your statement for the "It Gets Better" campaign, Barack Obama said he was "shocked" and "saddened" to learn about teenagers who killed themselves and those who are "depressed" because of homophobia.

The Obama administration faces a conservative wave and, on the other side, the wrath of the North American gay movement. This is because the White House supported the overturn of the injunction that canceled the "Don't ask, don't tell" law, which bans gays from the Armed Forces. However, the president once again declared that he is "committed" to repealing the law, but that he wishes to have the annulment done by Congress and not by the courts.
