The Chinese corporation Beijing Kunlun Tech, owner of Grindr, announced this Friday (6) that it sold the application for US$608 million (approximately R$300 billion) to San Vicente Acquisition LLC. The information is from Reuters agency.

The sale comes after the American government's Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States panel decided that Kunlun should give up its relationship app for the MSM population (men who have sex with men) by June this year.

The United States has been closely monitoring the application market as it is concerned about the security of user data. And, when the Chinese company Kunlun bought the app in 2016, it generated distrust regarding these topics. After that, Democratic senators Edward Markey and Richard Blumenthal even demanded that Grindr explain how its data security system works.

The Committee did not elaborate on the reasons why it is concerned about Grindr data in the context of the Chinese market.
