Gay dating apps GrindrScruffHornet issued notices to their users asking for coronavirus precautions.

According to Reuters, Hornet, whose network has 30 million users considered “frequent”, shared guidelines for them to avoid contagion – and suggested that users maintain contact with each other “remotely”.

“We have shared a variety of reports over the past few days within the app, in addition to sending messages,” said Sean Howell, a Hornet spokesman, in an interview with the agency.

The Scruff website, which has more than 15 million registered users, announced that it has been sending “packages” of tips from the WHO (World Health Organization) to one hundred thousand users at a time – and will continue this process until it reaches all of them.

Grindr reported that it has also disseminated information from the WHO to “help users make informed decisions when interacting with each other”.

Also according to Reuters, in the United States more than a hundred LGBT rights organizations have asked the country's authorities to keep in mind a specific risk faced by HIV-positive people, as this virus weakens the immune system of those who have it.
