With the aim of helping parents of homosexual children, the NGO Estruturação has just launched a booklet to provide support to them. The idea is that children hand this material over to their parents. The material answers questions such as, "My daughter is a lesbian. Is it my fault?", "Is not being heterosexual an option?".
According to the group's director, Welton Trindade, "the proposal is not to talk to young people, but to their parents". The activist justifies the material, as he "feels that the prejudice of many fathers and mothers against homosexuality and bisexuality comes from the lack of correct information on the subject".
The booklet was financed by the Federal District Health Department through the STD/Aids program. On the topic, the material clarifies that accepting your child's sexual orientation is important so that you can talk to them about ways to protect themselves against HIV/Aids and STDs. The booklet will be launched on 04/10 (Saturday) at the entity's headquarters.
