Evangelical group spreads homophobic billboards again in Campina Grande

The National Vision Group for Christian Consciousness (VINACC) once again spread billboards in Campina Grande, Paraíba, with homophobic messages. In June of this year, the same entity posted several posters throughout the city's streets and distributed leaflets in schools and colleges, with the phrase "And God made male and female and saw that he was good".

On the eve of the gay parade, scheduled for next Friday, the 23rd, the attitude was considered a provocation.

"It's discrimination and inhumanity. Homosexuals are human beings. We hope that the billboards are removed before Friday so as not to cause trouble", says activist Francisco Cleiber.

At the time of the first anti-gay campaign, representatives of the GLS movement took legal action, which forced the evangelical NGO to remove the pieces, which were considered discriminatory. Local activists have already confirmed that they will file another lawsuit against VINACC.

According to Davi Soares, president of the Life Protection Group (GAV), "evangelicals want, in addition to blocking the approval of PL 122 [which criminalizes discrimination against homosexuals], a ban on gay parades in Brazil." “They also claim that we are promoting homosexuality,” added Davi.

According to the group's website, the campaign aims to protect the family and freedom of thought. To this end, arguments based on the literal interpretation of the Bible and supposed laws that would protect the institution of the family are used.

"There is a set of bills in the National Congress that attack the dignity and existence of family and life", says the entity's website.

"The Gay Parade will be held anyway. It is already on the national calendar and has already received support from the federal government", said activist Francisco.
