The English Matt Hillier, from Cheshire, discovered that he was betrayed by his fiancé, the Brazilian doctor Octavio Santos, a week before the wedding scheduled for April 1st. Hillier found out about this when Santos informed him that he would quarantine with his lover, as he had been showing symptoms of the new coronavirus (COVID-19). The information is from Daily Mail.

The doctor came to Rio de Janeiro to visit a friend of the couple, identified in the English newspaper article with the pseudonym “Nathan”, with whom he cheated on Hillier – who in turn had to stay at home when he found out that his and Santos' dog, Pico, I couldn't go on the trip.

The Brazilian finally confessed that he jumped the fence when he called Hillier to inform him that he could not fly back to England as he was also showing symptoms of the virus.

“I was with Octavio for five years and I thought I could trust him, and mistakenly, I thought Nathan and I were friends,” Hillier told Daily Mail.

Hillier said he is “furious” and regrets not being able to meet Santos in person to talk. “I can't even call him to talk properly and resolve this, because Nathan is in the next room,” he said.

The betrayed fiancé said he also regrets being angry with a sick person. “He has a strong fever, is noisy and has difficulty speaking because of his throat,” he reported.

Santos said that cheating on Hillier was a mistake he made because he was drunk, and he wants everything to go back to the way it was before. But the other is unsure about the future of the relationship. “I don’t know if I can forgive him,” he said.
