Man who killed 8-year-old child for “gay behavior” is sentenced to death

The court sentenced Isauro Aguirre to the death penalty for the murder of Gabriel Fernández, aged 08. The crime, which shocked the population of Los Angeles, in the United States, and gained international repercussions, was attended by the child's mother, Pearl Fernández, who is awaiting trial.
The motive for the crime would be because of Gabriel's "affected behavior". Angered by the child's alleged homosexuality, the victim's stepfather tortured and killed his stepson. According to information from the Gay Times website, Gabriel was found gagged with a sock, malnourished and sick, with no chance of recovering his health condition, which culminated in his death. Bruises and burns were found on the child's body.
In testimony, the criminal stated that the act was thoughtless and happened after an "attack of explosive anger" and that he had no intention of killing the boy. Furthermore, the couple argued that the child was "self-harming" and that, motivated by being "gay", he wanted to commit "suicide".
In a report, Jonathan Hatami, one of those responsible for the case, declared that "no human with a heart and soul could do this to an innocent child."

Sentenced to the death penalty last November, Aguirre will be executed on March 08, 2018. Meanwhile, the victim's mother, Pearl, awaits trial.

Justice is also investigating the participation of four social service professionals from Los Angeles who allegedly facilitated the criminals' actions. They are accused of committing child abuse and falsifying public records.
