Men use silicone implants to enhance their butt

"My butt was saggy, but this subject is so mystical, due to a surgical procedure, today I have transformed." If in 1995 the song "Robocop Gay", by Mamonas Assassinas, was just a big joke, today this "surgical act" is no longer so mystical with the popularization of silicone implants in men. "The main justification for this new trend is the idealization of the perfect body, without much effort and satisfaction of vanity in the short term", says Dr. Sebastião Guerra, president of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery.

According to IBOPE research, in 2009, 1.793 silicone implant surgeries were carried out in men in Brazil, 18% of which, amazingly, were in the buttocks. There are currently two prosthetic options for the region: smooth round and oval quartz. The implant is filled with exclusive silicone gel capable of shaping the body efficiently, naturally and safely. "As the implants are placed in the submuscular space, the contracture rate is practically zero, so we cannot specify whether or not replacement is necessary, but it is certainly a very rare event", explains plastic surgeon Ivan Abadesso, member of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery.

For the first ten days after surgery, the person must sleep on their side, but they can sit up the day after surgery. After this period, normal activities can be resumed, including driving again. "After placing the prosthesis, the person can – and should – continue working out, even for the sake of healthy living and maintaining and improving muscle tone. But only 15 to 45 days after surgery", says Dr. Abadesso.

In addition to glutes, calf and thigh prostheses have been gaining ground as a quick option for achieving a toned leg. The presence of prostheses is practically imperceptible and there is no relationship between the implant and the appearance of varicose veins and sagging or other circulatory problems. "There are no restrictions for this type of surgery if the patient is in good physical and psychological health", concludes Guerra.

How to turbo?
Thighs: an incision of between 3 and 4 centimeters is made through which the prosthesis is introduced in the shape of an inverted triangle, beneath the internal rectus muscle.

Glutes: the prostheses are introduced through an incision of approximately 5 cm in the inter-gluteal region (in the piggy bank) and placed inside the gluteus major muscle.

Calf: the prostheses are placed through the posterior fold of the knee (popliteal region) and placed underneath the fascia (a fibrotic layer that covers the twin muscle, calf) of the calf muscle.
