The paternal uncle of the teenager who was found dead in Cravinhos (SP) claims that the mother, who confessed to having killed her own son, did not accept his homosexuality. The body of Itaberli Lozano, 17, was found charred in a sugarcane field.

“His mother didn’t accept it and we were already suspicious, because she didn’t want to press charges. I think the mother has to take care of her son and not do what she did. He was a boy who worked, he was educated, he was a boy, but he was in the worker phase”, said Dario Rosa.

The mother and stepfather were arrested this Wednesday (11), after confessing to the police that they were the perpetrators of the crime. In testimony, supermarket manager Tatiana Lozano Pereira, 32, said that she stabbed her son to death during an argument.

His stepfather, tractor driver Alex Pereira, 30, said he took Lozano's body to the sugarcane field, where it was set on fire. The remains were found on January 7, two days before the family filed a police report about the young man's disappearance.

Lawyer Fabiano Ravagnani Junior said he asked the court for the couple's provisional release. The defense is also considering filing a request for habeas corpus, claiming self-defense – the thesis is that the mother tried to defend herself against her son, when threatened by him, and ended up stabbing the young man.

The victim's paternal uncle, Dario Rosa said that the teenager argued a lot with his mother and, for that reason, decided to move in with him and his paternal grandmother, on December 27th of last year. For Rosa, the crime was motivated by the fact that the young man was homosexual.

According to Rosa, the teenager stayed at his grandmother's house until the night of December 29, when he returned home after receiving a call from his mother on his cell phone. From then on, Lozano was no longer seen by his family.

"A car arrived at the house, he got in and they left. After that, my mother went to his house and asked. His mother [Tatiana] said she didn't know and said he could be living at a friend's house, trying to divert the investigation”, said the uncle.

In a statement at the police station, the mother said that the teenager threatened her and her younger brother with death. According to Tatiana, in recent months her son started using drugs and showing aggressive behavior towards the family.

The victim's uncle said he didn't believe his ex-sister-in-law's version and denied that Lozano was involved with drugs. Rosa also said he suspects that more people are involved in the crime, but they have not yet been identified.

“The crime was premeditated because his mother was very calm and, as soon as we filed the complaint, she started to behave differently. We want justice to be done. If it really was her, she will have to pay and so will the others who are involved," she said.
