Married to a woman, the actor, who is currently shining in cinemas around the world with the Oscar-nominated film “The Greatest Showman”, spoke, in an interview with Veja magazine's website, about his supposed homosexuality. Jackman says that it all started in childhood when, after receiving a complimentary comment from a teacher talking about his notorious talent for dancing, he told his father about his desire to study this art, but saw his dream temporarily interrupted because of a joking comment from his brother. the actor explained where the rumors about his sexuality came from. “When I was 10 or 11 years old, a teacher told me I was a talented dancer and should take dance classes. We're talking about Australia, at the end of the 1970s. I thought it was great and went to talk to my father. My brother heard the conversation and said it was a sissy thing, in harsher words”, explained the actor. “I said, 'What? So I'm not going to do it'. Unlike Billy Elliott, I didn't move on. Seven years later, I went to see the musical Rua 42 with the same brother and my father. I had completely forgotten about the story, but at the end my brother came to apologize to me for having said that, that I should have been on that stage. The next day, I enrolled in dance school”, he continues.
