Gender Identity Will Be The Theme Of The 20th Edition Of The São Paulo LGBT Parade

Event that takes place on May 29th, at Avenida Paulista will give voice to one of the most forgotten LGBT acronyms, finally the transsexuals and transvestites will be protagonists of biggest parade in the world!

The meeting of the press with the São Paulo Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Parade Association (APOLGBT), Ea Four X Entertainment, the company responsible for the production of LGBT Pride Parade 2016.

They were present at the event Fernando Quaresma, president of APOLGBT, Nelson Pereira, director of APOLGBT and Libya Miranda, general director of Four X Entertainment, to talk about the organization of the 20th edition and the scheduled events.

The event that was intended to reveal the details of the parade turned out to be somewhat evasive, since many responses were not or could not be answered because not all aspects of the party, especially those involving sponsorship, were closed. (It's worth remembering that we are just a few weeks away from the event)

This would be the time to reveal, for example, the event's line up with the name of the party's attractions, however, this other point was also not revealed.

What is known is that The expectation is to collect R$5 million to hold the party. This year, according to Alexandre Machior, the city hall will help the event with 1,5 million, thus increasing 200 thousand reais from what was invested in the previous year.

Some companies and institutions that are sponsoring the event were revealed, they are: Bob's, Olla, Ministry of Health and Caixa. Petrobras who has a history of supporting the parade is not yet a confirmed name.

Parade Theme

The president of the association, Fernando Quaresma, highlighted the political importance of the event. “It's been 20 years of struggle, the fight for citizenship, for rights. We had arduous fights, great advances that came through the Judiciary, but we are still looking for more,” he stated. “This year, we bring the Gender Identity Law as our theme. We bring to light the 'T' segment, transvestites and transsexuals, women and men, due to the lack of support in the school environment, the lack of support in the family, at work”, said Quaresma.

For the transvestite Adriana da Silva, having the "T" segment as everyone's flag is an achievement: "It took a while, it took 20 years of struggles, but we are finally gaining our visibility, we transvestites suffer a lot of repression from our families and on the street. We are the ones who suffer the most, among a gay and a transvestite, the transvestite will be the most targeted when it comes to suffering aggression or mistreatment on the street", he pondered.

There will be 15 electric trios on the avenue and, in this edition, there will be no sale of the trios. All cars will be themed and there will be no groups of companies, such as nightclubs, or unions.

The Netflix car that was very successful last year will also not be present. "They will be there, but in another format", he informed Libya Miranda, general director of Four X Entertainment. This other format in question is the recording of the Sense8 series, which apparently will be made during the stop, as we already announced here on the website, at the time as a rumor: Sense8 may have scenes at the LGBT parade in SP and Brazilian actor in the 2nd season.

The LGBT parade tends to grow and should receive an estimated audience of more than 3 million people who will fill the streets, hotels and generate revenue for the entire city.
