Wanda Derby, 71, ended up in the Fort Worth police pages, in the US state of Texas, after attacking her son's gay friend.
Lloyd Guerreiro, 25 years old, is an actor and homosexual. He told local newspapers that he was surprised by the attitude of Derby, who is his neighbor. According to reports, the elderly woman attacked Guerreiro with a cane, pressing it against his throat.
"It was like a scene from a TV show. And, let me tell you, she hits really hard," the victim told NBC TV.
When the police arrived, Derby began calling his neighbor a "faggot" and said that he had AIDS and would pass it on to his son. When taken to the police station, the elderly woman was accused of a crime with a deadly weapon, with an aggravating factor of hate crime and bodily harm.
According to the local newspaper "The Fort Worth Star-Telegram", Derby paid bail of US$11,5 (about R$21) and was subsequently released.
