England: Anglican Church starts holding special ceremonies for gay couples

The Anglican Church in England does not allow marriage between homosexuals. The religious institution believes that the word should only be used for unions between a man and a woman.

However, this week, a group of bishops proposed a reform in the constitution where same-sex couples would be blessed through a blessing. The measure aims to allow parish priests to hold a special ceremony to mark the union of couples.

In England, gay marriage will come into force next year. At the time, during campaigns in favor of the LGBT community, the leader of the Anglican Church, Justin Welby, was completely against the project.

However, after approval, he recognized that there was a need for a change in religious doctrine regarding sexuality and became one of the supporters of the reform.

The new determination of the church caused a feud between the members. Some accuse the institution of changing what it has preached for centuries, while others defend the change by stating that the Bible is inconclusive regarding homosexuality.
