New Kids on the Block member admits he is gay

Better late than never. Jonathan Knight, one of the members of the quintet New Kids on the Block, has come out as gay.

It all started last week, when singer Tiffany – a pseudo-pop star from the 80s, now in decline – went on the live TV show "What Happens: Live" and declared that she dated Jonathan in the past, "before he was gay ".

The girl's statement – who was visibly altered on the program, supposedly drunk – surprised some unsuspecting people. Jonathan then took to Twitter to comment on Tiffany's statements, and later opened up completely on his blog.

"I've never come out to anyone, but to myself. I did it almost twenty years ago. I never knew I would have to do it publicly just because we got back together with New Kids on the Block!" Knight wrote.

"I have lived my life openly and have never hidden the fact that I am gay! Apparently the prerequisite for being a public gay figure is to be on the cover of a magazine with the phrase 'I am gay'. I apologize for not doing that! If Was there ever any confusion about my sexuality, you don't know me!" Jonathan continued.

"I love living my life openly and honestly, but right now I choose not to discuss my private life! My bandmates don't discuss it with their lovers, and I don't think I have to discuss mine, just because I'm gay!" he closed it.

Jonathan Knight is the brother of Jordan Knight, also a member of the New Kids. The band was the main boy band in the world in the late 80s and early 90s. They have recently returned to action. With his "outing", Jonathan puts the group back in the spotlight. Now all that’s left is for the other four members – Jordan, Joe McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood – to take over.
