IV Sapphic Manifestation

It takes place this Saturday (28), the eve of the VIII Pride Parade of Lesbians, Gays, Transvestites, Transsexuals and Bisexuals of Campinas, the IV Sapphic Manifestation – Event of Lesbian and Bisexual Women of Campinas (SP). The event is organized by the group MO.LE.CA – Movimento Lésbico de Campinas, Grupo Identidade and NuDU – Unicamp.

For Maria Amélia, from MO.LE.CA, the event is similar to the São Paulo Lesbian Pride Walk. “Like the Sampa Lesbian Walk, held on the eve of the Pride Parade, the Sapphic Manifestation includes lesbian and bisexual women”, she explains.

MO.LE.CA., as a member of the Campinas GLTTB Forum, is organizing all activities and specifically the Sapphic Manifestation, with women from the other groups that make up the Forum, the Identity Group and NuDU – Diversity Center from Unicamp.

Last year, the groups innovated by holding a political event with only artistic presentations. “With this we were able to gather the largest number of people present, until then, for the Sapphic Manifestation”, says Maria Amélia.

In 2008, the 4th edition of the event, the dose promises to be repeated: the traditional political speech will be translated into performances. “We will have a circus performance, African dance, sketches about discrimination and the great success of 'Sapphas Safadas', a group of drag kings who already heated up the 2007 Sapphic Manifestation with the Village People show, and now returns to the stage with an unprecedented performance , which is still a secret and will only be revealed on the day”, anticipates Maria Amélia.

The event will end with a show by Aline & Dani e Banda, at around 21pm.

So, women from Sampa and the interior of São Paulo, make an appointment!
