+In an emotional speech, Obama says he will leave a better country for LGBT people

The event takes place next Thursday (19) in the United States.

In a letter published in The Wrap, she apologizes to the LGBT community, which she supports so much, for accepting the current president's invitation.

“I sincerely apologize for my lapse in judgment, for being ignorant of the issues affecting every American at this crucial time in history, and for causing such consternation and heartbreak to my fans. Please know that I hear you and feel your pain. The LGBT community was largely responsible for starting my career and I owe a great debt to you. You have loved me faithfully and unconditionally and for many years you have gotten me jobs, even though my shine has long since dimmed.”

Holliday stated that she is not a Trump voter and that she even voted for Hillary Clinton in November. However, throughout her career, she performed for presidents of both parties, including Ronald Reagan, George Bush, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton.

The artist became known for her performance of the song “And I'm telling you I'm not going”, from the musical “Dreamgirls”, in the 1980s.

Her performance in the play earned her a Tony, an important theater award, as best actress and a Grammy for recording the song.
